You do not hear this often but cities with population of more than ten million people are called megacities. If you already know the top ten (Tokyo, Jakarta, New Delhi, Manila, Seoul, Shanghai, Krachi, Beijing, New York and Guangzhou) megacities in the world, it can benefit you if you know the rest of the list.

The World Urban Areas Index released its newest edition of the top twenty megacities. The Index was made possible by Demographia. Here’s the other ten megacities in the world:

  • Sao Paulo: Sao Paolo is the number eleventh megacity in the world with 20.3 million people.
  • Mexico City: Mexico is the number twelfth megacity in the world with 19.4 million people.
  • Mumbai: Mumbai has now 17.7 million people making it the thirteenth megacity in the world.
  • Osaka: Osaka has 17.4 million people making it the fourteenth megacity in the world.
  • Moscow: The capital of Russia is becoming richer and with plenty of opportunities, it is now the fifteenth megacity in the world with 16.1 million people.

  • Dhaka: Dhaka is the sixteenth megacity in the world with 15.66 million people.
  • Cairo: Cairo is the biggest metropolitan in Africa with 15.6 million people making it the seventeenth megacity in the world.
  • Los Angeles: Lost Angeles if the eighteenth megacity in the world with 15 million people.
  • Bangkok: The capital of Thailand housed 14.9 million people making it the nineteenth megacity in the world.
  • Kolkata: Kolkata is another Indian city and was the capital of British India way back 1912. The city nestles 14.6 million people making it at number twenty.

Singapore is a small country with manageable population that is why you never made it to the list.

The Most Peaceful Countries in the World

It is beneficial that we know the most peaceful countries in the world. Good thing The Institute of Economics and Peace released their 2015 Global Peace Index. The report included 162 countries and ranked them according to different characteristics like political terror, crime levels weapons import and the like.

Countries are scored based on the characteristics. The scores go from 1 to 5 with 1 as the highest. Here is the list:

  • Iceland: Iceland is the most peaceful country of them all with a score of 1.148.
  • Denmark: Iceland is followed by Denmark with a score of 1.150.
  • Austria: The third most peaceful country is Austria with a score of 1.198.
  • New Zealand: New Zealand is the fourth peaceful country with a score of 1.221.

  • Switzerland: Switzerland is the fifth peaceful country with a score of 1.275.
  • Finland: Finland is the sixth peaceful country with a score of 1.277.
  • Canada: Finland is followed by Canada with a score of 1.287.
  • Japan: Japan is the eighth most peaceful country with a score of 1.322.
  • Australia: The ninth most peaceful country went to Australia with a score of 1.329.
  • Czech Republic: The tenth most peaceful country went to Czech Republic with a score of 1.341.
  • Portugal: Portugal is the eleventh most peaceful country with a score of 1.344.
  • Ireland: The twelfth most peaceful country went to Ireland with a score of 1.354.
  • Sweden: Sweden is at number thirteen with a score of 1.360.
  • Belgium: Belgium is the fourteenth most peaceful country with a score of 1.368.
  • Slovenia: Slovenia is the fifteenth most peaceful country with a score of 1.378.

The good news is that Singapore is part of the Global Peace Index. Singapore is at number 24 with a score of 1.490.
